COVID-19 has changed parents, guardians, and students focus on how to prepare for the 2020/2021 school year. Every city and state has adopted and applied different rules based on guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”).

The 2020-2021 school year has bought up a broad range of questions for both parents and teachers alike. Whether your child’s school year is a hybrid style, will be at home and distance learning for the school year or you just concerned that there may period of time your child will be at home again and found it challenging to manage your workload and your children’s school, homework, and learning life. Academic Teacher Coach (ATC) can be a tremendous support for children and families.

Is your child school age?


If yes, you need to become aware, and know your state's laws about reporting your choice to homeschool. The legal age for school is ages six, and up must be enrolled in a legal school.

Could a teacher teach in my backyard?


The answer, NO!

  • Children can not learn in an environment with external distractions.
  • And there are many reasons why it's not sustainable for children and adults alike.
  • It's also not fair to ask a working professional to work outdoors.

Will CDC standards be applied?


100%, but please note, you will need to supply cleaning supplies, etc. to maintain a cleansed environment.

  • Thermometer
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Mask for a child(ren) new ones upon daily entry
  • Large zip lock bags
  • Gloves
  • Anti-bacterial sprays
  • Mask for teachers to clean the area daily
  • Anything else teachers feel will help assist with maintaining a healthy environment.
  • Carpet spots and desks to keep 6 feet away.

What is a typical teacher's salary?


The rule of thumb ranges from $36 to $85k a year plus, including benefits, paid time off, sick days, health care plan, state requirements, etc.

Could I only hire a teacher for a few hours a day?


Yes, you can if you feel that this is the right setup for your child's academic year.

Can I hire a certified teacher for part-time in the morning?


Yes, if there are available teachers in your area that are willing to commit to those hours. Based on our experience, this setup tends to be short-lived and dissolves itself.

I want my child to stay enrolled in school, but I do not want to manage my child's academic school year? What do I need to hire?


You would hire an academic teacher-coach to manage and maintain your child's school year via their present school curriculum.

Will teachers be background checked?


100% background checks will be done.

What are my options for a small group for the 2020-2021 school year?

Do I pay the teacher to set up and break down each day?

The process involved in finding the best match for your child takes on average about 15 interviews, 3 top selections, credential check, background check. An COVID-19 test, health check, and TB test is require in some states before hiring.

I have a group of kids in Pre-School ages 2-4 years old, could I find a teacher for this setup?


Yes.

Please consider that the ratio between teachers and children is 4:1.

This ratio may vary from state to state. (lower than 4:1).

  • No, they can not learn outside.
  • Teachers are not responsible nor reliable for a parent's choice of class location.
  • Kids on the Yard will take no responsibilities nor reliabilities for a parent's choice of the group location.

If I take my child out of their present school and homeschool them, could a teacher teach him/her from my home?


Yes, but read the section about bringing a teacher to your home again. Teachers will expect to be paid their current salary rate.

I want my child to stay enrolled in school, but I do not want to manage my child's distance learning academic school year? What do I need to hire?


Hiring an Academic Teacher Coach would be the ideal set up for the parent and child.

The ATC will help reinforce lessons after the ZOOM or Google Class meet.

What is the main difference between Academic Teacher Coach vs Personalized Tutor?


Personalized Tutoring is a highly personalized one on one approach to learning that includes concrete goals with specific learning needs.

An ATC preparation for lessons is similar to regular school year prep.

If I choose to have my teacher on a retainer, can I switch teachers if the match is not 100%?


Yes. No questions asked.

We may ask why, for quality control and only if you willing to share it with us.

However, on case by case basis additional finders fee may apply.

Can an academic teacher coach able to be placed on retainer for the 2020-2021 school year?


Yes.

Do I need individual insurance for having small groups at my home?


Insurance varies based on your state.

Kids on the Yard require all parents or guardians to sign a waiver to remove any and all, responsibilities, and liabilities from teachers and the company.

Will the teacher be required to take the COVID-19 test?


Yes, it's covered in the setup fee for some of the packages.

However, that may change by state and by law in time.

Will the teacher be required monthly COVID-19 tests?


Packages that include a monthly retainer, over 3 hours a day, and a minimum of 4 days a week, require the teacher to take the monthly test.

For all other packages, it as an add on to the service (a separate payment).

Why is there a setup fee?


The process involved in finding the best match for your child takes on average about 15 interviews, 3 top selected, credential check, background check, health check, and TB test required in some states.

The cost of this setup process is included in the setup fee.
