Join Our Tutoring Team
As a tutor with Kids on the Yard, you'll work one-on-one or with small groups of students, providing personalized instruction that helps them achieve their academic goals. We support tutors in all subject areas and grade levels, from elementary through high school.
What You'll Do
- Personalized Instruction: Provide customized tutoring sessions based on individual student needs
- Lesson Planning: Develop engaging lesson plans and learning activities
- Progress Monitoring: Track student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Parent Communication: Share regular updates with parents about student development
- Subject Expertise: Tutor in your areas of strength (Math, Reading, Science, Test Prep, etc.)
- Student Motivation: Build student confidence and foster a positive learning environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or currently pursuing degree in Education or related field
- Strong knowledge in one or more subject areas
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, enthusiasm, and passion for teaching
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles
- Reliable transportation (for in-person sessions)
- Must pass background check and TB test
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous tutoring, teaching, or mentoring experience
- State teaching credential or certification
- Advanced degree (Master's or higher)
- Specialized subject expertise (AP courses, test prep, special education)
- Bilingual abilities (especially English/Spanish)
- Experience with online teaching platforms
