Every student seeks to sharpen their brain and boost their memory when the exam countdown begins. But, unfortunately, most of them don’t know how to study effectively. To be clear, we are not talking about cramming and memorization on this platform: We are talking about having a meaningful understanding of the material you are reading. Effective studying does not require students to memorize material to remember concepts, material, and ideas for test day.

THREE: Create a culture of studying.

If you make it a habit to study daily, you will grasp more content in your mind and grow your understanding of concepts too. Reading over and over again also improves your performance and boosts your memory without a need to cram. You should study at least an hour or two daily and continue to increase the duration as you get closer to the exam day. You can cut back some of your activities and hobbies to create more chances of studying.  For example, prioritizing time for study may require you to minimize the time you spend online or reduce your work shifts.

FOUR: Be a good time manager

It is impossible to make the most of your study session without proper time management. But how should you manage your time?

  1. Set alarms: Alarms are great time managers since they remind you about study time.  Regular reminders keep you on track and reduce your chances of procrastinating.
  2. Set time limits: It is good to put your study time before beginning the session to avoid reading too much or too little. Time limits help set and accomplish study goals while also having enough time to attend to other activities.
  3. Have a wall planner:  You should have a wall planner or a calendar in your working space. Mark all important dates such as assignments dates, deadlines, and exams days to avoid the last-minute rush. A wall planner will also assist you when creating your study timetable.
  4. Create to-do Lists: A list helps to break down tasks into manageable chunks. You can create a list of things that require to be accomplished by the end of each week. A to-do list gives you clear information about what you need to do at a specific time.

FIVE: Review and Revise

It would be best to regularly revisit things you learned earlier in class and think over some of the concepts you learned. You can also get a family member or friend to quiz you on concepts you learned early in the course. You will find out what you know and what you need to relearn through quizzes. You can also revise and review your studies by creating new study materials.

SIX: Take regular breaks
